When surveying our residents and businesses, one thing shines through: Locals take immense pride in calling the Lowcountry home.
And there's more reason to celebrate. Hilton Head Island secured its 7th consecutive #1 spot in the Condé Nast Traveler's Readers' Choice Awards for the top U.S. Island, surpassing destinations like the Hawaiian Islands and Martha's Vineyard. Our partners also garnered recognition:
- Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport: #1 U.S. Airport for the 3rd year in a row
- Montage Palmetto Bluff: #1 Resort in the South, #8 in the U.S.
- Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort: #13 Resort in the South
- The Sea Pines Resort: #18 Resort in the South
- Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront Resort:#13 in the U.S. and among the top Resorts in the South
These accolades underscore the island's natural beauty, vibrant community, friendly residents, southern hospitality, and exceptional services provided by our businesses, enriching our quality of life.
We're also proud of our thriving small business community that contributes to the top ranking. Leslie Rohland, owner of the Cottage Cafe, Bakery & Tea Room, was named a finalist for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's "America's Top Small Business" award, one of only 10 in the Southeast and the sole representative from South Carolina. Additionally, Jennifer Megliore, owner of Artware, was named South Carolina's Small Business Person of the Year by the SBA earlier this year.
Recent weeks have seen more recognition for our local gems: the Jazz Corner was included in the "Top 25 Best Hidden Gem Restaurants in the U.S." list, and The Studio was ranked #1 Vegetarian-Friendly Restaurant in the U.S. by Tripadvisor, a trusted source for savvy travelers.
They may call it "America’s Favorite Island," but we simply call it home. Thank you for making it the best place to live and work.
Have a fantastic week!

President & CEO
