Getting to Hilton Head Island is easier than ever with two convenient airports and eleven airlines offering nonstop service to the area from more than 26 major cities.

Located 45 minutes from the island and just 20 minutes from Bluffton, the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport features major carriers Delta, American, and United along with low-cost airlines Allegiant, Frontier, JetBlue, Southwest, Avelo, Breeze, Spirit and Sun Country.

Hilton Head Island Airport is located within a few miles of all island resorts and is served by American, Delta, and United. It offers daily, year-round jet service as well as seasonal service from Charlotte, Atlanta, Washington D.C., Dallas, Chicago, New York and Philadelphia directly onto the island.

In addition, Amtrak has a station in Savannah served by the Palmetto passenger train which runs from Savannah to New York and Silver Meteor passenger trains, traveling between New York City and Miami. There is also an Amtrak platform with shelter and parking in Yemassee, South Carolina about 60 miles from Hilton Head Island.

Car rentals are available at either airport and you can book transportation from the airport to your accommodations in advance via several local taxi/limo services.

If you’re traveling by car, it’s an easy drive to Bluffton and Hilton Head Island from I-95 to Exit 8. William Hilton Parkway (Business Hwy. 278) runs from the interstate all the way down to the island's Sea Pines Circle, offering access along the way to Bluffton’s businesses and residential areas and Hilton Head’s 12 gated communities and many shopping centers.

While on the Island, Palmetto Breeze offers seasonal free trolley service from Stop #1 at Shelter Cove Towne Centre to the south end of the island, and between Stop #1 and The Westin on the north end, so you can easily visit the beach and popular shopping and dining areas. The Palmetto Breeze runs from April through Labor Day.

The original trolley route, now referred to as the “South Island Route,” includes stops at Coligny Beach, Shelter Cove, the Village at Wexford, Park Plaza, Lowcountry Celebration Park, and the Courtyard by Marriott hotel, on Pope Avenue, and many stops in between.

The “Mid-Island Route” uses one Breeze shuttle (as depicted on our route map) and serves portions of US 278/William Hilton Parkway, Folly Field Road, Grasslawn Avenue Coggins Point Road, and Shelter Cove Lane. The service runs from 1 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Sunday through Thursday, and 1 p.m. to 11 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays, reaching each stop approximately every 30 minutes.
