Today with others across the county, we honor the life and legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. Thank you to the Bluffton MLK Observance Committee and the Hilton Head MLK Committee for hosting a myriad of events this past weekend, today, and through January. Beaufort County has a special connection as Dr. King wrote his “I Have a Dream” speech at the Penn Center on St. Helena Island.
Our roots go back deep with our storied Gullah culture here in the Lowcountry, and we are excited to celebrate it all starting February 1 as the Hilton Head Island Gullah Celebration kicks off.
