We believe in the importance of continuing education, whether it’s in the classroom or through professional development. One way we practice what we preach is through our Leadership programs.
Both the Senior and Junior Leadership classes of 2023 kicked off their programs earlier this month, and we’re excited to see how much the participants will learn and grow.
The Junior Leadership class is comprised of 40 high school juniors from the public and private schools south of the Broad River. Like the Senior Leadership program, class members complete a project and get involved in the community through volunteering. The skills that they will learn through the classes, their project, and teamwork will be invaluable as they transition into college or the workforce in two years.
Our Senior Leadership class welcomed 15 professionals, evenly split between Hilton Head Island and Bluffton, plus one in Beaufort. The businesses they represent is a great cross-section of our economy: hospitality, healthcare, non-profits, utilities, and professional services. They join the over 700 alumni in the community who have taken a “master’s degree” course in the Lowcountry.

For all the Leadership graduates reading this, we’re excited to soon be reviving the Leadership Alumni Association under the helm of our Events Manager Kelli Brunson and past Leadership Board of Regents Chair Tom Dunn. Keep an eye on your email for an announcement.
Speaking of Kelli Brunson, we’re proud to announce that she has been accepted into the Business Leads Fellowship Program through the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. She was among 35 individuals selected for this invitation-only program and will soon help bring more educational programming to our events calendar. She also recently completed her master’s degree in learning, leadership, and organization development from the University of Georgia. Please congratulate Kelli the next time you see her!
