It’s back to school in the Lowcountry.

Nearly 22,000 students are making their way back to Beaufort County classrooms while many of our private schools returned last week, and our teachers and educators are welcoming them back with open arms.

It’s a good year for teachers and recruitment efforts as Beaufort County is one of the top-paying districts in the state. We talked with Superintendent Dr. Frank Rodriguez on teacher recruitment and retention, why some are coming out of retirement and going back to the classroom, the status of referendum projects, and more on our 5 Questions With podcast. This week is also Sand Shark Week, where more than 2,100 students will return to University of South Carolina Beaufort campuses. It’s an exciting year for the university’s athletic program as it was recently welcomed into the NCAA Division II and in the Peachbelt Conference. Fins Up!

We believe education matters. Your chamber’s Business Education Partnership Committee is very engaged in the community. If you are interested in getting involved, reach out to Kelli Brunson here.

We’re grateful for the support that our business community shows for our educators, students, and schools. Cheers to a great 2022-23 school year!
