As of January 12, there are 15 COVID-19 patients in southern Beaufort County hospitals, and 3,065 cases were reported over the past two weeks. The surge is expected to peak in mid to late January. 

State-wide, 52% of eligible residents are fully vaccinated. Unvaccinated people have a 1 in 10 chance of being hospitalized and a 1 in 50 chance of dying while vaccinated people have a 1 in 10,000 chance of hospitalization and a 1 in 30,000 chance of dying from COVID-19.
