Locally, there are 14 COVID-positive patients in southern Beaufort County hospitals, which is down from last month.

Health experts point to the COVID-19 pandemic becoming endemic, meaning it is not completely eradicated but will exist at lower levels in seasonal fluctuations as more people become vaccinated and gain immunity.

In South Carolina, 53% of people aged 5 and older are fully vaccinated. The number of COVID cases are declining, and of those who have died, 95% are unvaccinated.
