Dear All,

Sometimes an outside set of eyes can give you a different perspective. We all can fall into the trap of doing it the way it’s always been done. How do we know we’re continuing to take what we do to the next level?

We seek outside experts to take a deep dive into our organization. Destinations International has once again selected the Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce as one of less than 200 visitor & convention bureaus in the world to be accredited. They measure our organization against more than 100 different performance standards set by an industry panel of experts including governance and oversight, ethics, transparency and accountability, and the effectiveness of our marketing efforts.

It's a rigorous process and we welcome it. I believe one of the reasons we’re accredited, not only by Destinations International but as a five-star chamber by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, is due to our members that hold us accountable for results and a staff who gets the “why” behind everything we do. It’s about jobs and helping to create the extraordinary quality of life we all love about the Lowcountry. As the saying goes, we’re all in this together and we couldn’t do it without our members and our partnership with the community. Thank you!

Tomorrow marks the beginning of Foodie February. We kicked things off with Chamber Restaurant Week, but there are so many other great culinary experiences to enjoy this month including the popular Hilton Head Island Seafood Festival and Savor Sea Pines. It’s also the month for the Gullah Celebration—a celebration of Gullah food, history, and traditions on Hilton Head Island. We were pleased to garner some outstanding media coverage for the island’s Gullah culture with HGTV last week selecting the Island as a place to check out during Black History Month.

It looks like 2022 is off to a great start. Make it a great week!
