Dear All,

We all know how important small and local businesses are to the fabric of a community. And this holiday season – where spending is expected to be at an all-time high – we are all putting our money where our hearts are.

Small Business Saturday on November 27 was a huge success nationwide. According to American Express, Americans spent $23.3 billion, a nearly 19% increase from 2019. Research also shows that:

  • 66% of shoppers prioritize shopping local and shopping small because they realize the positive community impact.
  • 91% of small businesses give back to the community an average of $6,600 per year.

We’ve been Neighborhood Champions with the Shop Small Saturday effort since its inception in 2010, but we’re champions year-round for all our local small businesses. From our annual Small Business Week in May, to Shop Small Saturday, to everything in between, we put local first.

Our Faces of Small Business video series tells the story about locals, your friends and neighbors, the businesses they build, the ways they give back, and why they love living in the Lowcountry. We share these videos on our social media pages, and you can watch the series on our YouTube Channel by clicking here.

Keep on supporting local no matter the season!

Make it a great week.

Sincerely,

Bill Miles,
President & CEO
Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce
