For the Toomer family, opening the Bluffton Seafood House was the natural next step. The Toomer family's shrimp boats have harvested from the Lowcountry's waters since 1913.
The Bluffton Oyster Company, on the banks of the May River, is one of the town's most popular historic landmarks. "Bluffton Oyster," as it is referred to by locals, is still the best spot to view the river and purchase fresh, local seafood. Here, the Toomers have operated the state's last remaining hand-shucked oyster operation for over 18 years.
Now, the Toomers offer their fresh, local seafood to everyone in a proper restaurant environment, prepared fresh and served in a fun, family atmosphere.
