The Coastal Discovery Museum on Hilton Head Island is seeking a part-time Volunteer Coordinator to organize the use of volunteer service in all of our programming. The Coordinator works with museum staff in all departments and manages the Coastal Discovery Museum’s volunteer program which consists of 200+ volunteers. The Coordinator is responsible for cultivating and maintaining a positive relationship with museum staff, volunteers, and community members.

Qualifications

The Volunteer Coordinator creates a welcoming environment to enhance the retention of the museum’s volunteer force. The right candidate will possess innovative problem-solving and conflict resolution skills with an aptitude for working through complex processes. The Volunteer Coordinator will recruit, interview, place, evaluate and supervise all volunteers and docents. This role will also plan and conduct regular orientation and continuing education, as well as track statistics and develop department strategies. The successful candidate must have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, be detail-oriented and have excellent writing and communications skills. Computer skills will include Internet and Microsoft Office proficiency and a willingness to learn evaluate and learn volunteer management software.

Comments

This position entails 20-25 hours of work per week at a starting rate of $14.00/hr. For the first six months of employment, the Volunteer Coordinator will report directly to the CEO.
