Grounds and Facilities Technician

At the Coastal Discovery Museum, we are focused on maintaining the highest standards across our 70 acre campus in Hilton Head Island SC. We are looking for a full-time technician to perform general maintenance tasks, assist with general building maintenance (interior/exterior), and work on exterior landscaping and gardening tasks. This technician should be able to supervise volunteer labor for some landscaping tasks and will should have the skill necessary to contract with outside specialists for complex mechanical, electrical, and plumbing repairs.
To be considered, candidates should have a HS Diploma (or recognized equivalent) plus completion of a private, military or trade school training program that includes theory and on-the-job training. You will also have 1 - 2 years of related experience with a solid attendance record, a reputation for performing quality work, efficiently and the ability to communicate effectively. More extensive experience may substitute for school training.
This is a full-time position with a starting pay rate of $14 per hour with a rate increase upon successful completion of a six month introductory period. The introductory period, provides the opportunity to determine if the position and its requirements are suited to your demonstrated skills, knowledge and abilities. It is also a time to determine if your work style is compatible with the work environment at the Coastal Discovery Museum. For the first six months of employment, the Grounds and Facilities Technician will report directly to the CEO.
