ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Diligently seek out new sources of revenue through all available means including the cultivation of relationships with regional businesses, event planners, hotel staff, wedding planners, and corporate destination management companies. Return all incoming calls and emails from potential or current clients no later than the next business day. Identify and secure new methods, means and locations for the distribution of our marketing materials for public cruises and private charters. Identify and develop relationships with non-profits, schools, professional and service organizations, churches, and retirement centers to sell cruises and events aboard our vessels. Identify and create a relationship with other yachts, vessels, venues, and ground transportation providers to permit Vagabond to resell their services at a profit. Plan and sell events aboard our vessels that: Meet our clients needs, budget, and expectations. Reflect well on Vagabond Cruise, ensuring our reputation for excellent food, service, and value. Generate acceptable net profit. Personally sell events that generate a minimum of $250,000.00 in billings for the calendar year 2018 and $350,000 in calendar year 2019. Keep in an organized manner records of all client contacts including follow – ups and resolutions. Use an active email program to keep our products in front of our clients. Be present on board prior to the start of every charter to introduce the client to the Food & Beverage Manager and to the Captain. Provide a recap of each charter that includes contact information, passenger count, revenue, and expense detail as it relates to the event, and the profitability of each event. These reports are to be compiled the day after each event. Deliver to the bookkeeper the day after each charter all of the necessary information, compiled in an orderly fashion so that she may invoice the client and pay vendors. Once and invoice is generated review the invoice for accuracy.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Attend all regular meetings of the Hilton Head Island Chamber of Commerce and it’s committees, the V&CB, and the Hilton Head Hospitality Association as the representative of Vagabond Cruise. On a regular basis, plan and host events aboard our vessels for the purpose of familiarizing local event planners, hotel staff, wedding planners, and corporate destination management company employees with our fleet. Continually update our selection of theme events and entertainment resources for creating special events and theme charters. Participate in at least one service or volunteer organization within our local community. Within six months from date of hire complete a procedure and training manual for your position. Help to promote our internship program by using this tool to train interns.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None
COLLABORATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES: Work closely with the Food & Beverage Manager in the continued development of our catering and event menu packages. Work with our Bookeeper to insure timely billing and collections. Call on clients who are more than thirty days aging on their invoices. Work with the Food & Beverage manager, our Captains, and crew to communicate the needs and expectations of each charter. Work with passenger Service Manager to update reservation lists and schedule availability for public cruises.
FISCAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Complete a Pre-Charter Worksheet prior to going to contract to insure a perspective charter or event will generate acceptable net income. Share that Worksheet with F&B manager and Captain to insure they understand the permitted overhead, staffing, fuel, etc. for a given event. Provide a recap of each charter that includes contact information, passenger count, revenue, and expense detail as it relates to the event, and the profitability of each event. Reconcile this report to the Pre-Charter worksheet. These reports are to be compiled the day after each event. Deliver to the bookkeeper the day after each charter all of the necessary information, compiled in an orderly fashion so that she may invoice the client and pay vendors. Once and invoice is generated review the invoice for accuracy. Insure that each charter meets the minimum gross profit margin. Utilize Company resources in manner that minimizes expenses and maximizes profit. Review all invoices for accuracy, keep current on collections aging. Within ten months from the date of hire develop a budget and sales goal for 2017.
REPORTING RESPONSIBILITIES: Reports to Captain Keith W. Walston weekly on the number of new leads, the status of previous leads, charters sold, new relationships and general business outlook.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Must have prior outside event, wedding, or charter sales experience. Preference will be given to applicants who can demonstrate experience selling corporate events, weddings, and parties in hotels, resorts, or banquet venues.
Must possess and outgoing, positive, and cheerful personality. Must be comfortable working with clients in an individual or group setting. Must be skilled at written and verbal communication including networking and relationship building.
Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, and the ability to use the Internet.
Must have reliable transportation and a valid South Carolina Drivers license.
Must be willing and able to pass a new hire drug screen and participate in the Companies random drug screening program.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT:
This position requires travel during the business day throughout the geographic area listed above. This travel includes client meetings, cold calling, and the distribution of marketing materials. Some light lifting is required.
At specified times during the week be available for meetings at the offices of Vagabond Cruise at 22D Bow Circle or other space as designated by Vagabond Cruise. Proper business is attire required at all times when representing the company. Smoking at any Vagabond Cruise facility is not permitted. Smoking is not permitted at any time, function, or event in which you are representing the company.
Salary: Salary plus commission
