2014 National Chamber of the Year
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC August 14, 2014 - The Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce has been selected as National Chamber of the Year by the American Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE), the nation's leading association of chambers of commerce.
The chamber industry's most coveted honor, NCOY is the highest national award presented to chambers of commerce. The chamber has won it a record three times, and was a finalist in 2010 and 2012.
ACCE annually recognizes chambers of commerce for their work in leading business and strengthening communities with the Chamber of the Year award. Chambers honored with the Chamber of the Year designation must demonstrate organizational strength and the impact they have made on key community priorities, such as education, transportation, infrastructure, economic development and quality of life.
With over 6,000 chambers in the country, only a small number qualify for consideration.
Qualification is based on rigorous annual financial and membership benchmarks. The chamber became a finalist when its programs and operations were selected as being among the best in the nation by an expert panel of industry professionals.
"It is a great honor to win this prestigious award," said chamber board chairman Tom Upshaw. "The chamber would not have received this recognition without the leadership and support of our members, committed board, staff and community partners. What distinguishes the award is that it is presented by peers after lengthy reviews, documentation of organizational success and interviews."
The Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce is accredited by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Destination Marketing Association International.
